I have been involved in HR through various different businesses for many years. My career started working on a mine doing both finance and payroll. In those days we used to count the money and staple it into a pay packet, the world has since changed and cash is no longer exchanged and is now all electronic, even payslips are no longer printed in bulk and personally handed out, they are digital too. My career went from Payroll to Learning and Development, where I used to train people on various software systems to then developing teams, building a business and growing turnover.
In 2001 I started by own business manufacturing hospitality cosmetics which are the little bottles (you should steal) you find in hotel rooms. The business grew to become the largest manufacturer of hotel cosmetics in Sub Saharan Africa, in 2011 I was nominated as Africa Entrepreneur of the Year, in the same year I was Business Woman of the year and this award not only boosted by self confidence but it showed me that I was doing something right.
My business was made up 98% of women, I decided it was women that were always put down and I built a successful business that was operated mainly by women and was nominated for a gender empowerment award in 2014.
In 2011 after winning business woman of the year I joined the Business Woman Association and was appointed as the chairperson in 2015, my term of office ended in 2018. This was a fantastic opportunity and I worked, ,mentored and inspired business women from all sectors. In 2015 I was selected for the EY Entrepreneurial Winning Women Programme EYEWW. I met some of the most fantastic head of business including President Ramaposa.
I move home to England in 2020 and started my HR career in corporate, I started at the bottom working as an HR advisor on nights to a Head of People in 2024. I come with a wealth of HR experience and will give you excellent outstanding service.
